Why We Make It All In House, and What That Means for You

all in house

TL;DR

LC Designs prints, sublimates and finishes every piece in its own studio, so what's in the listing is exactly what ships to you.

  • Every order is made and shipped by LC Designs, with no dropshipping and no third party warehouse in the middle.
  • Products are sold exactly as listed, so there's no custom work, commissions or personalisation to ask about.
  • Coaster designs are named by specific breed, sea life or automotive theme, so search for the exact one you want.

What In House Manufacturing Actually Means Here

When we say in house manufacturing, we mean it literally – it’s all in house, start to finish. The printing, the sublimation, the finishing – all of it happens in our studio. Nothing is ordered in, unboxed, and passed along to you.

That sounds simple. In practice, it changes almost everything about how we work. We see every piece before it goes out the door.

If you like knowing exactly who made your piece, browse the sculptures, coasters and 3D printed earrings we print, sublimate and finish right here in our studio.

Some of our designs are licensed from other creators. We print those under licence, in our own studio, on our own equipment. The artwork may come from elsewhere, but the making does not.

So when a coaster set has a flaw, there’s no supplier to blame. It’s ours. That’s uncomfortable some days, and it’s exactly the point.

Why We Don’t Buy Finished Goods

It would be easier to buy finished stock and resell it. Plenty of shops do. You pick a catalogue, you order a case, you list it.

The trouble is you inherit whatever the factory sent. If the colour runs muddy on a batch, you find out when a customer tells you. By then it’s already in their kitchen.

We’d rather catch that ourselves. A piece goes in the shop when the print and the finish are right. Not when the calendar says we need new listings.

That means our catalogue grows slower than it could. We’ve made peace with that trade. Slow and right beats fast and sorry.

  • No warehouse of mystery stock we’ve never handled
  • No dropshipping, no third party filling your order
  • Every item made and shipped by us
  • Quality problems stop with us, not with a supplier overseas

What This Means When You Order

Your order is made and shipped by us. There’s no middle step where a warehouse you’ve never heard of picks and packs it. That’s a short chain, and short chains break less often.

It also means what you see in the listing is what we actually made. We photograph our own work. We describe what a product is, not what it could be if you squint.

We sell products as listed. No custom orders, no commissions, no personalisation. If it’s not in the shop, we don’t have a version of it waiting in the back.

Some people find that limiting. Others find it refreshing. You know exactly what you’re getting, and we know exactly what we’re sending.

Why the Catalogue Is So Breed Specific

Our coaster designs run deep on dog breeds. Sea life too, and automotive themes. A listing might read “Golden Retriever in Flowers Ceramic Car Coaster Set” and that’s deliberate.

People don’t shop for a generic dog. They shop for their dog. A border collie owner wants a border collie, not a vaguely collie-shaped silhouette.

In house manufacturing is what makes that possible. We’re not ordering a pallet of one design and hoping it moves. We print what the catalogue calls for.

That’s the long tail in action. Lots of specific designs, each one meaning a great deal to a small group of people. It only works when you make things yourself.

The same logic applies to the themed pieces. Birds, butterflies, flowers and plants, sea life – people already care about these things before they find us.

Where In House Manufacturing Fits the Early Holiday Shopper

If you’re shopping early for someone who seems to have everything, specificity is your friend. Generic gifts fail because they could have been for anyone.

A piece tied to their actual breed, or their actual favourite bird, reads differently. It says you were paying attention. That’s the part that lands.

Shopping early also gives you room. You can browse properly rather than grabbing whatever’s left. You can think about what the person actually likes.

Our range covers sculptures and statues, 3D printed earrings, small toys, ceramic coasters and ceramic car coaster sets. The sculpture themes run to animals, people, birds, flowers and plants, sea life and abstract.

That’s a lot of ground for one small studio. It’s also why we spread new releases out rather than dumping everything at once.

What We Won’t Claim

Handmade gets used loosely. It sometimes means assembled from parts someone else made. We’d rather be plain about where the line sits for us.

We make and finish our products in our studio. Some designs are licensed from other creators and printed under those licences. That’s the honest version.

We also don’t do a lot of things. No services, no design work for hire, no downloads or model files. No wholesale, no trade accounts, no storefront to visit.

Online and shipped only. No local pickup. We’d rather tell you that clearly now than have you drive somewhere and find a locked door.

Being straight about the boundaries is part of the same instinct as in house manufacturing. Control what you can, describe it accurately, and don’t oversell the rest.

Making something yourself means owning the result, good or bad. That’s a harder way to work, and it’s the only one that lets you stand behind what you sell.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does in house manufacturing actually mean at LC Designs?

It means the printing, sublimation and finishing all happen in our own studio, from start to finish. Nothing is ordered in as a finished product and passed along to you. We see every piece before it goes out the door.

Do you dropship or use a third party to fill orders?

No. There's no dropshipping and no third party warehouse involved. Every item is made and shipped by us, which keeps the chain short and keeps quality problems with us rather than with a supplier overseas.

Are your designs your own, or do you use other people's artwork?

Some of our designs are licensed from other creators, and we print those under licence on our own equipment in our own studio. The artwork may come from elsewhere, but the making does not. Either way, the piece you receive was produced here.

No, we don't take custom orders, commissions or personalisation requests. We sell products exactly as listed in the shop. If it's not in the shop, we don't have a version of it waiting in the back.

Why are your coaster designs so breed specific?

Making things ourselves is what lets us print what the catalogue calls for instead of ordering a pallet of one design.

We make handcrafted home decor, jewellery and giftware, including sculptures and statues of animals, people, birds, flowers and plants, sea life and abstract forms. We also make 3D printed earrings, small toys, ceramic coasters and ceramic car coaster sets. Coaster themes run to dog breeds, sea life and automotive designs.
